Title: Healthy Watersheds, High Quality Waters Part 2: Statewide Planning
Speaker: Pamela Toshner
In 2019 the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) initiated a new statewide program, Healthy Watersheds, High Quality Waters, to improve watershed and waterbody protection efforts. This presentation will share what we’ve learned about water resources protection elsewhere and our big-picture strategy of where we plan to go, including delivery of a Healthy Watersheds, High Quality Waters Protection Action Plan. The statewide Plan will be drafted in collaboration with multiple WDNR programs, external partners, and the public with the goal of leveraging funding and partnerships to ensure long-term water resources protection– a potential paradigm shift to protect what may be taken for granted before it becomes lost or impaired. Part 1 Modeling & Assessment results will be on Tuesday morning.
