Speakers: Michelle Scarpace, Craig Ficenec, Tracey Zemlo, and Dale Macheel
This session will feature two efforts ongoing in Dodge county to collaborate with the Dodge County Farmers for Healthy Soil & Healthy Water (HSHW) members to implement best management practices to improve water quality. Craig Ficenec of Sand County Foundation has worked with HSHW members Charlie Hammer and Nancy Kavazanijian to plant Prairie Strips on their farm. Learn about what prairie strips are and how they work on a farm to build soil health and protect water quality. Also, during this session Tracy Zemlo, Executive Director of the Fox Lake Inland Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District, will share the success of the first-ever Fox Lake Soil Health Incentive Program. By partnering with the Fox Lake Preservation Organization and HSHW, they were able to promote the installation of best management practices to improve water quality.
