Speaker: Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers created the Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change in 2019 and asked Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes to chair this effort at creating a statewide strategy to address the climate change crisis. The work of stakeholders and staff in 2020 culminated in a report to the Governor last December. The report summarizes major issues in Wisconsin and outlines solutions around climate justice and equity, energy, transportation, agriculture and more. This presentation will highlight some of the critical steps outlined in the report, key climate initiatives included in the Governor’s budget proposal, and some of the ways that state government and its partners are connecting the dots and moving forward towards a more just, fair, and sustainable Wisconsin.
